Verizon Foundation Equips LINC Resource Lab

LINC received a grant in the amount of $20,000 from Verizon to upgrade and replace equipment, accessories and hardware in the LINC TechLab. The timeline for the project is from December 1, 2003 through December 31, 2004. The funds will replace outdated computers and adaptive equipment, and will allow LINC to purchase the latest adaptive equipment and technology for demonstration and exploration purposes for our consumers with disabilities and their families.

Some items that will be purchased with the funds from this grant include new PC’s for use in the lab for job training projects, individual consultations, teacher training workshops, and instructional classes for persons with vision impairment. Computers will be outfitted with specialized adaptive hardware, such as touch screens, one-handed keyboards, trackballs, and voice recognition software, to accommodate students with varying cognitive and physical disabilities.

LINC also plans to purchase a Macintosh computer with full graphics capabilities, an LCD projector and a projector screen, a digital camera, a digital video camera, a digital whiteboard, and a high end color inkjet printer to use in our Summer Arts Camp, our Tech-Create program for teens and young adults, our teacher training workshops, and individual consultations.
