Training Opportunities at LINCThe LINC staff, and outside experts and vendors with whom we have contact, have many topics related to assistive technology on which we can provide training. We conduct training for adults and children with disabilities, parents and professionals. Workshops and CoursesAssistive Technology and the Individual Education Plan (IEP)This presentation focuses on AT and the IEP, including the legal definition of AT, assessing for AT, describing AT in the IEP, who should pay for AT devices and services, and how parents can include AT in the IEP plan. LINC can work with parents in developing the inclusion of AT. Assistive Technology OverviewA chance to see and tryout specialized software and adaptive equipment in LINC's computer lab. This is a 2-3 hour workshop for professionals where a variety of software and equipment appropriate for their targeted group is presented. Assistive Technology Family WorkshopsHands-on training for parents of children with disabilities in the use of assistive technology. Parents are made aware of assistive technology tools, strategies and funding sources. Hands on InternetParticipants learn how to access the Internet, search and retrieve and get the information they want in an efficient and timely manner. Participants learn how to send and receive e-mail, research data bases and learn about special interest newsgroups. Adaptive equipment and software is available. |
