What's New at LINC?

LINC acquired a number of new software titles focusing on the arts and art history and has made them available to members through the loan library. All are on CD-ROM and can be used on both Macintosh and Windows platforms and all have accessibility features. Check out these new additions on your next visit to LINC.

The Louvre features spectacular full-screen images of more than 50 of the Louvre Museum's most treasured works of art including the Mona Lisa, Winged Victory, and a self-portrait by Rembrandt. The software, geared to kids, but enjoyed by all, provides instant sense of scale and multiple close-ups zoom in on the most minute details. Kids can enjoy more than 100 challenging puzzles, and over an hour of audio introduces children to the featured artists and the stories behind their now-famous work.

With Open Eyes provides full screen pictures of over 200 works of art from the Art Institute of Chicago's world-class collection. The audio clips and ingenious games and puzzles allow viewers to look closer, and all descriptions and captions are read aloud, or displayed as text. Access the collection by geography or time period.

Picasso features over 600 of Picasso's most famous works and in-depth analysis of 100 major works, photos of him in his various studios, and hours of original music and commentary.

Treasures of the American Museum of Natural History features 50 of the best treasures from the Museum's vast collection, going back to the birth of the solar system and forward to the future of genetic research. The easy-to-use index, world map and museum blueprints allow young explorers to quickly track down their favorite treasures.

Fun with Architecture from The Metropolitan Museum of Art features dozens of templates of famous structures and an introduction to architectural design. Fun landscapes and more than twenty textures including stone, wood, and brick give children infinite creative possibilities for designing buildings.©
