LINC Takes First Steps With Baltimore City Infants & Toddlers Program

LINC provided services to staff and families in the Baltimore City Infants and Toddlers program through the Tech for Tots Project, funded by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). LINC provided information, demonstrations of assistive technology, and hands-on opportunities for families who attended the Family Focus Conference and the Early Intervention Conference, as part of the community outreach activities in the first year. LINC staff visited Parent-Infant Education centers throughout the city and invited parents and children to explore software and adaptive hardware for children with disabilities age 0-3. LINC presented a hands-on workshop for eight service coordinators and provided eleven memberships to eligible families and teachers. The families received consultations, along with a full array of LINC membership services. LINC hopes to expand the program in the coming year to increase the number of outreach activities, family memberships and to provide easily attainable and understandable information on software and adaptive technology to these families via the LINC website.

Other localities where LINC has provided services to this age group include Prince Georges, Frederick, Anne Arundel, Charles, St. Mary's, Baltimore and Calvert Counties. Projects are funded by MSDE along with private funding, such as the J.C. Memorial Trust in Prince Georges County and individual and corporate contributors.®
