Membership Benefits:

One Individual Consultation:

Information you provide about your strengths, abilities and disability, school, employment, and life skills, computer experience, and goals is used to set up a one-on-one session where you try out specially adapted computers, specialized hardware and software. At the end of the session, future plans are discussed. Consultations last 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Children and adults are encouraged to bring parents and other adult relatives, teachers, occupational /speech /physical therapists, and friends to the consultation. There is a charge for additional consultations.

LINC's Software Loan Library:

Our library contains 450 specially selected programs (primarily for children and young adults) for Macintosh and Windows. Individual members may check out up to 4 pieces of software for up to one month at no charge, with the family membership 4 items are allowed per family member with a disability. The software loan library is open for check out and return of software during consultation services and open lab.

LINC's Equipment Loan Library:

We offer members the opportunity to try out up to 2 pieces of adaptive equipment for up to one month at a time at no charge. LINC offers a number of specially designed mice, touch windows, communication devices and battery-powered, switch activated toys for families to borrow.

Open Lab Hours:

These hours are scheduled blocks of time when members come in and explore hardware, adaptive equipment and software. Members are encouraged to practice the skills they have learned during consultation sessions. Macintosh and Windows computers are available during these hours. Members schedule Open Lab hours by phone.

Open lab time is for you to work independently on the software and skills covered during the consultation and generally a staff member does not work with you directly. You may however, receive additional training on programs and skills through a fee-for-service.

Telephone Technical Services:

This is the opportunity when assistive technology staff answer members' questions relating to hardware, software, and adaptive equipment.*

*Though staff is generally willing, when available, to assist you over the phone with technical support issues and computer problems, we are not a help desk support center and may not be able to assist you with all problems. Calls are generally restricted to 10-15 minutes up to 2 times per month.

Connections:

This is LINC's quarterly newsletter that contains information on new hardware and software, upcoming events, and news on LINC's specially funded projects. Connections is mailed to members and available on our we site.

Computer Workshops and Exhibitions:

LINC members receive free or reduced fee participation in computer workshops and other special events at LINC.
