This past November, 120 supporters of LINC filed into Boccaccio's, one of Little Italy's finest restaurants, to raise money for scholarships for children with disabilities who are unable to pay for LINC services. Thanks to the leadership of event chairs, Sam and Pam Himmelrich, the sold out event was a huge success. Chef Giovanna prepared a delicious and bountiful buffet featuring dishes from Northern Italy. Select Italian wines flowed freely throughout the evening, compliments of Gregory Papaloukas. The evening's events began with music by classical guitarist Mark Herlihy, and culminated with an exciting live auction, led by Petra Compel. The auction included an evening of Blue Grass with County Council; a week on the Outer Banks; a case of Italian wine from the Mount Washington Wine Company; a romantic night in Fell's Point, complements of The Black Olive restaurant and Celie's Bed and Breakfast. The live auction item featuring an Italian dinner prepared by chef Vince Pompa of Chiapparelli's Restaurant, for 8 guests in their home , was in such demand, it was auctioned off twice. The same scenario occurred when a dinner for 12 prepared and hosted by Gregory Papaloukas in his home and a tour of his wine cellar was auctioned off. A second evening with Gregory was added to the auction, resulting in another bid of equal value. In addition to the live auction, guests participated in a silent auction that included 15 items that included wine, art, dinners, tickets and a day of beauty. Many guests in attendance inquired on their way out about the date of the next fundraiser. Overall LINC@ Boccaccio netted over $20,000 for scholarships. A large part of the evening's success can be attributed to the generosity of the Corporate Sponsors, listed here.
