A Technology-Focused Employment Program in Baltimore City
for Persons with Cognitive and Other Disabilities


What is TechWorks?

TechWorks is a three-year project that provides computer-based employment opportunities to individuals with cognitive and multiple disabilities. These people will be to trained and placed in integrated community employment involving the use of computer technology and necessary adaptations.

What Does TechWorks Include?

  • Assessment and basic skills training, including basic computer skills and prevocational/job readiness training;
  • Job search/self-advocacy training;
  • Job development with employers;
  • Job placement and initial support, including worksite accommodations and on-the-job training; and,
  • Computer training in several highs schools to facilitate the school-to-work transition of high school Students.

Who Can Participate?

Baltimore City residents who have cognitive and multiple disabilities can participate. Special consideration will be given to residents of Baltimore’s Empowerment Zones.
