LINC recently acquired two new software titles targeted for early childhood, early primary,
mid-primary and elementary students who have cognitive or learning disabilities, or physical,
speech, and vision impairments.
First is Basic Attainment from the Attainment Company, software designed to foster development
in the areas of early concepts, literacy and numeracy. The series includes three modules:
Colors, Shapes and Numbers. Each module offers name, match and game activities. The instructor
sets the difficulty level for each student, so everyone can succeed. Games include placing the
correct piece into an existing picture, sorting numbers and coloring pictures with the correct
colors. Colors teaches color recognition, color words and includes an onscreen coloring book.
Students learn size, color and form differences in the Shapes module. In Numbers, students
count dots on dice and learn corresponding digit and number words. Eye-catching visuals and
engaging audio promote learning these early skills in a lighthearted atmosphere.
IntelliKeys-capable overlays are available. Cost is about $99. For more information, go to

The next addition to LINCís library is the IntelliTools Reading: Balanced Literacy software.
This software provides a complete year of literacy instruction at a first grade skill level.
Over 117 story, pattern, and letter books offer ample opportunity for students to read. Over
300 phonics activities help students master essential decoding skills. Guided writing and
comprehension reinforce understanding and strengthen vocabulary. The software is targeted for
elementary students with disabilities that include cognitive, learning, physical, speech, and/or
vision. The software is compatible with adapted keyboard/switch access, large print, scanning,
single switch, and multi-switch. For more information, visit
