The Dovefax-TTY, a 2400-baud, Hayes compatible modem that also serves as a TTY. Although the company that developed the product is now out-of-business, you can still get this modem, while quantities last, at The Apple Computer Disability Solutions Store. Also, recent changes in the telecommunications industry may mean that future modems will incorporate a standard that allows them to communicate with TTYs. Called the v.18 standard, this set of specifications is winding its way through various electronic industry boards for approval and authorization. If this standard gets approved, modems in the near future may have TTY-compatibility built-in.
